Joanne started working as a Registered Nurse in Alberta in 1976. She worked for many years for Alberta Health Services in the Operating Room and Recovery Room, as well as private sector in geriatrics and home care.
Joanne’s community and health care experiences inspired her to assist in creating a compassionate private health care company delivering quality care.
Striving to move away from a disengaged franchise mentality, Calgary Elder Care sought to create a company based on the development of strong relationships not only between service provider and client, but also between private and community based service providers.
Calgary Elder Care’s success, growth and reputation has been a direct product of Joanne’s dedication, warm demeanor, compassion and related home care experience.
Jean joined Calgary Elder Care as R.N. Educator in October 2016. My goal was to help Calgary Elder Care become accredited with Accreditation Canada, as I was very impressed with the care and compassionate feeling of the individuals that worked with Calgary Elder Care, including the owners. Originally I took R.N. training in Scotland, Ayrshire to be exact, which was the home of Robert Burns, the poet.
I worked in Emergency Medicine, ICU, and CCU in Ontario and then had an introduction to Occupational Health Nursing which I enjoyed for 30 years working on various sites in Ontario and Alberta.
For the past 14 years I have worked with senior care as an educator in Long-term care and in Supportive Living. I love working with seniors and especially feel that compassion to be their voice when they do not have one. It has been such a pleasure working with Calgary Elder Care, as I know they share my sense of compassion and caring in working with seniors.
I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to work in Home care at this point and teach staff the required Mandatories and oversee their Competencies ensuring that they will deliver the best care possible to the clients of Calgary Elder Care.
